I had two Minox ZA-5 scopes and they were just okay. The glass is clear but the eye box is tight and the tubes are really soft .I dented both tubes while mounting with torque that has never dented any other scope I've owned. I had to send both of mine back for parallax and tracking issues . I would look at Leupold or Meopta or Zeiss . I think cameralandny has really good deals on the Meopta.

I have mounted and used a couple and I think Meopta is a better product as Cattleman said. I did get good CS on a problem though.

I currently have 7 of them. 1 ZA-3, 4 are ZA-5 and 2 are ZA-5 HD's. I have sent one back (a ZA-5) for focus issues. It was replaced and back to me in less than a month, with shipping both ways. The ZA-5 HD's are MUCH better than the others in regard to clarity, color rendition and tracking. I have taken one of the HD's out to 1123 yards, dialing it up to max elevation (still had to hold over the target) then back to my marked zero with no problems. The ZA-3 is their price-point scope. Behaves as you would expect for a mid-to-upper $100's scope. Accuracy is good but not anywhere near the clarity and sharpness that you find on the HD's. I haven't had a Meopta as of now, so I can't compare them to that. I haven't had a Leupold in 20 years. I do have 2 of the Zeiss Conquest HD's and find they are just a little sharper than the Minox HD's. I'd buy another Minox (on sale) over the Conquest HD's simply for the $$$. If they were both at 'regular' price, I'd go with the Conquest.

I will give you my opinion and it is just that. Minox is very decent glass for the money. I would consider Minox the red headed step child of Meopta. Likewise I would consider Vortex Viper which is still good for the money the red headed step child of Nightforce.
I've owned them all and it just depends on how much money you want to spend.

I've had two and liked both. For the price they are hard to beat glass wise. Are they higher end? No. Are the decent? Yes. I'd buy another one. My understanding is they are German glass made/assembled in the USA.

I am remembering that the guy I talked to at the home office in Minnesota said the ZA5 HD 2-10x50 30mm #66421 I was buying was using german glass and assembled in California...and all the other parts sourced world wide from New Zealand and elsewhere.
Super clear and good low light crosshair visibilty. Snooze Ya Looze...I'd buy several more at the same price I bought this one during CL NY's move from Manhatten to Bethpage. Ron

My wife uses Minox binoculars and the glass is good, but you have to refocus every time you set them down. I had a Minox 3-15 a few years back and didn't keep it long. I'd keep looking....

Minox uses Schott glass in their American assembled scopes. They don't specify a country because it can come from one of three plants two in Germany and one in the Czech Republic. The Jena Germany and Czech Republic plants supply most of the lower cost glass.
