How would a coach gun be for an everyday car gun? I dont have a permit yet. Can I carry this on my car, loaded without being in trouble?

You can legally carry a handgun loaded in your car here in Texas without a LTC, unless you are under age or a felon.

It would be not as good as an m4 style AR.

Yes, you can legally carry a loaded coach gun in your vehicle here in the great State of Texas. Excellent choice for self-defense. Buy some of the federal tactical 8-pellet buck shot and you can decimate someone out to 50 yards.

Only drawback I see is only 2 shots. Same size package in a pump can get you 5 shots. Where will you carry it? Can you get to it if needed quickly?

Set up a trust, pay the $200 tax stamp, and cut the barrel down to 12".

If I were to get a coach gun for self defense I would certainly want ejectors and not extractors to aid in a quick reload.

Get a Rem 870 tactical instead, or a regular 870 and another short barrel.

Seems to me, if you have time to unstow and get a shotgun into position to fire, you could've just driven away.

To the OP, just carry a pistol, perfectly legal as long as you can legally own it, it is concealed, you aren't a gang member or committing a crime.

Hell, you can carry that down the sidewalk. Just don't "brandish" it in a threatening manner.
