I really like the Interlock 150 grain SP bullets, but I'm considering the SST in 165 grain for my 308. For those in the know, which is the better bullet and which provides better accuracy?

I shot a pig today with the 308 150 sst out of my AR.

I am sold on the sst but I want to move to the 165 also. On the 150 sp I can get a 2nd pig on the pass thru with it.

There's nothing wrong with a good old cup and core like the interlock you're shooting. Excellent terminal performance on Texas critters. The SST is also a great bullet. I believe the only real difference in construction is the addition of the polymer tip, and a little sleeker profile. Both of these will help improve the bullets BC, and the benefits can really be seen as you start stretching the distance. Whether the bullet itself will make your gun more "accurate" is another can of worms. Either bullet can be loaded accurately in your rifle, it's just a matter of tuning the load to the gun.

Let me say that no Hornady bullet I've ever used (probably half dozen calibers) has ever failed to perform superbly. However, I have yet to see a true discernible difference in performance between their lead and polymer tipped projectiles. They're both extremely accurate and the animals don't die any quicker with one over the other.

What I do know is that I find the SSTs on the shelf at a ratio of about 10 to 1 to the lead-tipped bullets. They're plentiful, and probably one of the best deals going for a 100 pack. To me, that alone is enough to get me to focus on SSTs and stop chasing the Interlocks.

But I run the 150gr SSTs in .308 and their performance has been flawless. Never needed a 165 grainer, even on 400 hogs. DRT.

Either can be just as accurate as the other. They are almost an identical bullet. The Interlock is a standard cup and core bullet with a lead tip. The SST was created to lengthen the nose a little with the polymer tip, which increases the BC (for better down range performance at longer ranges). The SST has the same cup and core design, but with the polymer tip. The tip also helps initiate expansion. Some of the Interlock bullets are flat base, and some are boat tail (the 308, 165 grain has both). Either could shoot just as good as the other. They are so similar, that is one shoots well with a certain load, the other should also.

The 140gr. BTSP is my go to bullet for my .270win, I tried the 140gr. SST and it turned out to be the only bullet that my rifle just flat out doesn't like.

Point being - The SST may be the more accurate bullet, but it all depends on what your rifle likes.

You really can't go wrong either way though, both bullets you mentioned are excellent choice in a .308 for Texas hunting.

I used the Interlock 150's for my .30-06 for years. Outstanding accuracy and performance in my Remmy 700's and later in the Tikka T3. Now I use Sierra GameKings in 165 grain, another outstanding bullet for my uses. The T3 loves them. I still use the 150 Interlocks in my daughter's 700 in -'06. Excellent bullet.

I've been using the Interlocks for several years with good results. I use the 150 grain SP bullets in my .308 bolt gun and I've been using the 180 grain BTSPs in my buddy's .30-06 and my AR-10. When I run out of the 180 grain bullets I'm going to switch over to the 150 grain SP for those two as well. All we shoot are hogs, and it just doesn't seem to matter which bullet we use, so we're going with one inexpensive bullet for all of our .30 cal firearms.

Well, not the 300 Blackout. For that I'm standardizing on the Hornady 110 grain VMAX.
