The In-Laws bought a new gator a couple years ago for the farm. It's been used 16 hours when the transmission went out. The warranty was up after a year. The cost was $1,100 to get it repaired. I haven't been up there since it's back, but the In-laws claim it ran much better when it came back - like it had been messed up to begin with. Then it started making noise like metal on metal.
Anyone else had bad experiences with Gators? Do lemon laws apply for ATVs?

No not after that long.. if they thought something was wrong from the start they needed to take it in asap.. they are pretty simple transmissions and lots of things can throw them out but sit time is the main reason from what iv seen.. no sealed trans likes to just sit and gather moisture. Also what did they do to fix it? they didn't have it rebuilt did they? A whole transmission shouldnt cost that much and it takes about an hour to put one in.....
this is all assuming your talking about the old style gator with like a 10hp engine in it?
