I just gave a deposit for the hunt of my dreams and there's room for one more. It's a last minute cancellation hunt at a discount. This is the last year a non-resident can buy a goat tag over the counter. August 31st - September 6th Rifle or Bow Nearly 100% success rate with rifle. Guided 2×1 $8K + tag and license (tag is around $300) Includes flight out of Anchorage to hunting area, food, camping equipment, etc. We bring out backpacks and sleeping bags. Flights DFW to Anchorage are around $400-$500 right now. We may need to get a hotel a day before and/or after the hunt, but that should be all the expenses. Message me know if you are interested.

All I can say about hunting goats is you better be in shape! I got this one in my native CO in 2001 after applying for more than 20 years. This was a DIY backpack hunt in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area near Buena Vista and it was without a doubt the hardest hunt I ever went on. The kill happened at 13,800 ft in elevation on Mt Huron. This billie was just less than 10 inches which is about as good a goat gets in CO. He lives here now: The Bighorn also came from CO but that's another story.

Currently tied down with some family health issues, but if I wasn't, I'd definitely be a contender on this trip. Not a bad rate at all, considering. What area?

Currently tied down with some family health issues, but if I wasn't, I'd definitely be a contender on this trip. Not a bad rate at all, considering. What area? It's unit 14. It's about a 45 minute Supercub flight out of Anchorage. I'll be 41 tomorrow. I had huge reservations about doing this hunt, but my wife talked me into it. She said - you aren't getting any younger and these mountain goat hunts aren't getting any cheaper. That sealed the deal for me. I'm in pretty good shape thanks to signing up with Crossfit a year ago and going 5-6 times a week, but I know this won't last forever and I'll have serious regrets if I were to let this opportunity pass me by.

What an incredible opportunity. Would join you but the exchange rate and amount of flights it would take from South Africa to Alaska just doesn't make it possible! Hopefully one day.

OK - Just talked to the outfitter for this hunt. Because there are so few days between now and the hunt, and I really need a 2nd hunter to make this work for this 2x1 (2 hunters to 1 guide) hunt, he has offered to do this for $6500 each.
That includes the supercub/beaver flight out from Anchorage to the Chugach Mountains where we will be hunting, food, tents, etc. Everything except tag & hunting license. ($300ish).
Please PM ASAP if you are interested in doing this hunt with me.

My dad did a similar hunt last year. He was 53, but is in good shape. Hiked 5-10 miles a day for 2 months before the trip. SO, It IS DOABLE if you are dedicated to it. He shot a great billy, but had to work for it. You will be cold, wet, and uncomfortable, but the scenery and hunt make it worth it. It is a hunt of a lifetime, and if you ever thought of doing it, I recommend it based on his experience. I would go, but I am moving to Alaska in 2 weeks, so I am waiting a year to become a resident Best of luck ttaillac!

That is crazy cheap. It's killing me, but just can't right now.

Well - pretty disappointed. My buddy that was really trying to go with me on this hunt had to back out. Now it doesn't look like I'll be able to go because I can't find a second hunter to take advantage of this 2 hunters/1 guide last minute price. If I were to go solo, it would cost me quite a bit more (around $10K) and that's just more than I can spend right now. Ugh - this is a trip of a lifetime and really a one-time opportunity. This is the last year these tags in Alaska will be over-the-counter for Mountain Goat - Going forward, it's all drawing/lotto and prices of those tags just doubled. ( http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/ho...cense_fees.pdfIt's $6500 for this fully guided, fly out, Alaska Mountain Goat hunt of a lifetime with an awesome guide/outfitter. If anyone wants to go, please let me know ASAP. (We would leave for this hunt in 59 days.)

I would jump on that but money is tight this year. Already went on a trip to Canada for a bear hunt.

I feel your pain. I've been wanting to say yes to this deal since you posted it, but it's too soon and I have too many commitments already. Good luck, I really hope you find a way to make it happen!!!!

That is one heck of a price. I would be all over this but already have two hunt commitments for September. Sounds like an awesome hunt! Good luck. Someone will jump on this.

That's great news. Hope you both down huge billies. Watch out for the "****-you leap" that I've heard about after a good hit. Anchor him good. Give us a report when you get back please.
