I haven't posted a video in awhile due to my Angel Eyes DVR finally crapping out. I've got a brand new UNV MDVR to replace it and I'm back in business.

In this video I chronicle some recent hunts but mainly I just want to share how frustrating it is to setup for a hunt over our oats field while seemingly every pig in the county is running around us to get to our neighbors field.

The pigs come out in early evening (daylight) hours and can be 100 yards away as if not a care in the world while we sit until 9 / 10 / 11 pm waiting for action, the last few weeks we've only killed hogs that are crossing our field to get to the neighbors, its a lot of waiting for a 1 - 2 minute opportunity.

In an attempt to make hunting time spent more efficient we identified an animal crossing route on one of the smaller fields that connects a county road / our property / the neighbors fertile field. We initially setup a standard game cam on video mode and it recorded a decent amount of animal activity. The problem with game cams is they record for 5 - 10 seconds in low quality and they are motion activated so to me they don't always capture all the activity especially on the fringe of their range.

This past Wednesday we setup our CornCAMs in place of the game cam, it records continuous video at high resolution - it was a quick deployment so it looks a bit rough in application - the cameras may not be set at just the right height and angles so Im returning monday to see what I captured and make adjustments. The only thing that could wreck the setup is cows or hogs or deer getting tangled in the wire and bringing down the house.

So here is a video to sum up the above, hopefully its the first in a string of videos that captures our efforts at this particular field.

Fun/interesting video. Looks like you should be able to make things work!

It wasn't in the cards for a severe thunderstorm .....

That'll probably futz up the setup , heading out tomorrow to see what's pointed where and what's fried.

Learned a couple of lessons about CornCAM this week. The cameras are "loop recorders" meaning that they will continuously record and when they reach the microSD card limit of 32 Gbs they overwrite the first videos. The cameras also auto adjust resolution based on activity in view so when there is a lot of animal activity the file size is larger meaning you are eating into the 32 Gb and shortening your overall recording duration.

In actuality I can record about 48 hours based on the setup as outlined in this video series. That isn't anywhere near practical as the lease is 2 hours away (4 hour round trip) so I am missing out on a lot of surveillance when away for a week or more.

Also the cameras take soooooo long to transfer files, about an hour a piece so it was a two hour sit to extract the footage.

Anyhow here is the highlights of the video since last Wednesday - nothing definitive and consistent in hog activity, they're definitely in the area just can't schedule a meeting...

I'll leave the cameras running during the hunt this weekend on the off chance I get a shot at a hog with the camera rolling - it'd be interesting footage to review in slo-mo for bullet impact.

P popper, you might want to trim the tall grass and brush in front of camera. Seems that the movement might be activating it. Just my 2cents

Dalee - the cameras run 24/7 the grass poses a visual obstruction , I hand pulled some tall grass on Monday so it should be out of the way in the next video set

Pigs 2 - Popper 0

Hoping to turn the tables on these pigs tomorrow. Its hard to see in the video but I plan to setup tomorrow at the large orange dot and place soured corn at the two smaller orange dots.

There is an old abandoned deer blind at the large orange dot that should completely conceal my truck from their entry point, we will be in their scent cone if they come North of us so we will need to be ready.

The few data points I have at the location where the camera are indicate that hogs visit there between 3AM and 530AM, so it'll be a night of catnaps...

Man, my bucks look anemic compared to yours!

Looks like the critters are used to the camera and its red glow.

Just curious, about how far was the camera from the stake for the pig pipe?
