I'm looking to put some new box blinds at the lease. Anyone have feedback on brands etc? I don't need towers. I've looked at ranch King. Atascosa. Etc. looking for a 4x5 or a 5 x 5 for my daughter and myself . Anyone have experience with these or others... ? Window quality ? Seals? Noise? Etc. please let me know

I've heard good things about both of those as well as good stuff about Rednecks, the powder coated ones. Either of those brands and those dimensions and with a 10' ladder stand will set you back $2000-$2500, approximately in the event you were wondering. I picked up a used Monarch, 4x6 on a 8' stand on the THF here for $650, I like it after putting some insulation and carpet in it...Any of these brands will treat you just fine..

I have a 5x7 T-Box fiberglass blind. Works for me.

Look at Wes Tex Steel in Santo tx. They have a website with pricing and they can deliver and set them up anywhere. Wes Williams has some really good fiberglass blinds and good prices.

4x5 will be tight unless she's still a young'un. Even then, they have this pesky habit of growing, no matter how many times we tell them to stop. I sit in a 5x5 at one of my places, and it's awesome for me. I'm not a big guy, but I like to be able to stretch out. I could probably stand to have one of my nieces sit in there with me for a hunt or two, but I'd probably want to step it up to a 5x6 if it was going to be a long term thing. 4x6 will be easiest to find, 5x6 is pretty common, but 5x5 was a different story. I had a hard time finding a square 5x5 in fiberglass, so I built my own from steel.

Beyond that, I'd second the Wes Tex Steel reference. If they have what you're looking for, they're super nice guys to deal with. We've had two of their blinds on our place, top notch.

Check out Krivoman Blinds out of Georgetown.

Half the cost of the brands mentioned and would be nice and roomy for two.

Relatively light and easy to move if needed.

I wouldn't go any smaller than 4x6 or 5x5. I'm building some new ones this summer that are 5x8 (just a hair under 5, as it needs to fit on my utility trailer).

not to side track the thread ... but those that are making your own 5' blinds, what are you using to skin the outside with??? Most siding comes in 4x8 sheets, so I am curious what you are using for the 5' width without having a lot of scrap?

I used SMART SIDING from Lowes. It's got a ship lap edge, so it's easy to join. If you plan your cuts right, it's only one more sheet than a 4x4. Downside, it's heavy. Upside, it lasts forever.

All but one of my blinds are home made and plenty nice, but I wanted one that would be 10 feet off the ground. For that I decided to go with Redneck Blinds and a 4x6 size. I've had it for 3 seasons now, and I'm very happy with it. No leaks. Wasps can't get in there when it's closed up. It's only noisy when buzzards land on the roof.

Cost for the delivered blind was about $2500. The box comes assembled. The structure is easy to assemble and attach to the box. Standing it up was pretty easy, and I followed the instruction video on Utube.

The only minor issue I have with the blind is not the fault of the blind. Some critter is picking away at the rubber sealing gasket around the door, and the gasket isn't looking that great, but it still seals perfectly. The way that the door edge, gasket, and blind fit together is well thought out. I don't think the critter can possibly get to all of the gasket.

I just finished doing a bunch of research, then purchasing a long-term blind myself. My personal conclusion was that fiberglass offered the best performance and longevity for the money for me, and Boss Game Systems appears to be the best builder. Happy to share any info, shoot me a pm.
