I see we don't have much discussion on the Xsight any more. I just got my 5-20, firmware update, factory reset and sight it in. I'm quite pleased with the newer generation as I went through several gen 1 units and didn't keep any of them.
I don't care if any of the bells and whistles they advertise work as long as it holds zero, keeps a clear image in the viewfinder and records video. The rest of that stuff is bonus.
For the price I can't beat this with any of the other stuff I've tried in this price range.

Update us after 30 days of heavy use, that's the information I've seen lacking.
We see a few reports of guys buying them but nothing residual .

Is the new one any lighter in weight? 2.85 for Gen 1 and 2.55 for Gen II. I don't care if any of the bells and whistles they advertise work as long as it holds zero... I'd be curious to hear about the Smart Range Finder function as it says it will adjust the POI. Charlie

I sure hope so, we need somebody that we can count on to give us a full unbiased review. Not even the vendors have been able to come through thus far... Good luck Fred and let us know how you make out with the product.

We are up here in MI and do a lot of coyote hunting...unfortunatley not enough hunting together...he lives on the other side of the state. I only night hunt and the same is pretty much true for Fred. Big problem coming up right now is the crops are getting tall enough where it is hard to hunt the farm land. We should have Wheat being cut soon though so that could open up some. Plus we will be able to compare the 5 x 20 to the Pulsar N850 and the Photon 6.5 with the same IR under the same conditions.

Took it to the range on the bmag today. First to get pictures of the reticle on graduated paper, second to try the RAV. apparently there's not enough recoil on the WSM to activate it. But I scan with thermal so odds are I'll have time to turn on normal video when hunting.

You know what we yearn for, target/decoys at fixed positions (50 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 250) with side by side comparisons to digisight and photonxt
Any hunting action would be a bonus

How about actual real world hunting situations....with rolling fields and background of woods like I hunt most of the time.

I like to use it that way just so I can have whatever video I want before and after. How about actual real world hunting situations....with rolling fields and background of woods like I hunt most of the time. The Night Vision is IR based, so it will only be as good as your IR light. The IR light that comes with the scope SUCKS, but after market lights makes this scope's night vision very good. I personally have a T38 for 150 yards and in with some tall grass so the reflection is not crazy. I have a T50 for open field hunting up to 400 yards away for spotting.

You can get eye shine at further distances. I normally do not shoot that far at night I stalk up closer once spotted so I do not have recording video of that far out at night. I have 400 yards on video during the day freehand so it is a little shaky of black bucks, but not a shot. My T-38 IR light is what I use most for kill shots as it is my go to IR light for up to 150 yards. I have not tried that at farther distances due to kill shots being 150 yards or less.

Well, now I'll have to test it with the T50 since I mispoke. I normally use a NS550 which I think is somewhere between the T50 and T68. I'll get video with both at the range.

Fred didn't you already have video from the range at 400 yards at night?

Remember I'm not a creative guy. Just a backwoods farm boy who now takes a little video while I'm out. I went to the range last night to test the sight with a couple lights and forgot the NS550 so this video will only be of the T50, and the occasional spot you see a light moving around that's a Streamlight IR, only one setting and one focus. I put these together best I could and removed all the audio so you don't hear a dork making mental notes. I had to stretch this out to 2 videos. It may a little boring without the sound as you don't know why I'm spending a whole minute on one scene but you'll get the drift. I spend a bit of time with the different reticles showing a possible bracket option for calculating distance at night (something I have an issue with) Enjoy and as always comments are welcome. This is just amateur video night

The reticle of your pick? I like the T and the circle out of the ones you showed.

I'm using the circle. I like it and the T. The circle brackets a coyote in the bottom half at 100. Quick reference.

The there may not be any field video of this to speak of. I went out Saturday night and called in 5 coyotes. Could see them in thermal but couldn't find them in NV. I'm tired of switching back and forth. I'll stick with my XD50A for now.

So i picked up the 5x20, i had owned both of the first generation and didnt do as much coyote hunting as i thought i would. But i was tasked with filling 20 deer nusance tags that allow me to hunt at night, First thing i tested was the range finder, the deer setting is was way off, we dont have 6ft tall deer around here. after playing with it 4ft seemed to get the most accurate results but i only tested at 30-70 yards, and speaking of yards they really need to add that option into the range finder. Day shooting. the first doe hit was 300 yards, i did use the ballistic comp and i would say it worked but Im only looking at a 9" drop anyway. Now i would have uploaed the video but my settings i did with the phone didnt seem to turn on the shot recorder.
the next that were shot with my gun(friend shooting) were at night, the first was at 250 and the second was at 295, both good shots and they dropped in place. im using a 67mm ir light from amazon nothing special it just happened to be one i could get next day delivery.
The one issue im having and have contacted ATN about is it goes out of focus after each shot. not a ton, but at night withthe muzzle flash you cant see for a follow up or even record the actual hit
