Made a quick trip to the ranch last Thursday, Friday. Needed to drop off a couple blinds and fill protein feeders. Found the place still extremely green for this time of year, and the tanks holding lots of water. However, several of the roads were in rough shape from all the rain, and the brush is all going like gang busters. Lots of new baby Mesquites and Acacia coming up, going to be lots of cutting and spraying next month.

Bucks are growing, quail were calling, and fawns are dropping. Should be a great season ahead!

Thanks gents. Pretty exciting to see the place so green in July. The memory of the 2011 "scorched earth" drought is still fresh in my mind.

Wasn't that 2011,12,13,14 drought LOL. Sure is green, increased fire danger this year, or late summer I bet. Watch those cat converters!! Good looking country Kevin

Nice pics!

The wet spring is great, but I sure with the conditions would hold. I already have cracks in my yard at the house south of san Antonio, it may decide to fall flat on its nose.

Unfortunately both those tanks lost their fish in 2011. Haven't been re-stocked since, just perch and mud cats in them for now. Maybe this year if the water holds.

I believe you're right Sniper. I anticipate some good buck pics being shared this season.

Yep, it doesn't take long to brown out in these 100-degree temps. Sure would be great to get 1/4 inch every few weeks. Protein consumption was down from normal, but I'm betting it will take off here in a week or two as all the baby green stuff dies off.

Yep, we had let our protein usage go way down while it was raining but we are ramping it back up now that stuff is drying out.
