I have shot a bunch of pigs like most of you guys so shooting 1 more is fun but... I made some hand loads for my AR10 (308) using the Hornady 150 gr sst and was shocked at the results. I shot this pig at 10 yards right behind the front leg and had no exit wound. This was a 160 to 180 lb pig and all he did was fall over and didn't move. He had a little blood from him mouth but that was it. I didn't cut him open because it was raining but I can't wait to shoot another to see the devastation the bullet caused inside.

Yes Sir , 150 grain and higher is just perfect for bigger bodied pigs.
That is if you're into Bang Flop hunting

That's the same bullet I load for the grandson. It does a fine job. And very accurate.

So... How'd you get to ten yards?

So... How'd you get to ten yards? It was raining and that is the best time to spot and stalk. I just happen to be walking close to the feeder and looked up to see him with his head down. Spot and stalk during the day is my favorite thing to do hunting pigs and then adding the rain just makes it heaven.

Nice going. I'm cheap, so I just use the plain ol' 150 grain Hornady SP bullets in my .308 and they seem to work well.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Congrats. I always said that if you want to save meat, don't use an SST lol.

I LOVE the 150 gr. SST out of any 30 caliber rifle. That is what I'm shooting out of my AR-10 as well!
I used to load that same bullet over a max charge of RL-25 in my 300 Win. Mag. If you ever want to see what it looks like to cut a pig in half with a bullet.. That's the way to do it. It makes them look like they got hit my a log splitter. Not much meat left.. Or bone.. just fur and tendons is what is usually left holding the carcass bits together.
A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.
