For you guys that hunt out west/up north in the mountains, do you wear gaiters for early season hunts where deep snow is not likely? I have never worn them but seems like more and more do these days - in all conditions. Is this a Jim Shockey fashion statement bandwagon or do they provide real benefits?

Just seeking opinions thanks in advance.

I use gaiters every time I hunt in the mountains. In dry conditions they keep junk out of my boots. In snow and wet conditions they keep my pants from getting wet. I have used Sitka gators in the past. I have switched to kuiu recently. I am very happy with my kuiu Gators. Sitka gators are a close second. I would not use any other brand as satisfaction will not be very High

I have worn them since the early '90s when I archery hunt elk. Only wear them in the early mornings when there is a heavy dew or anytime when the brush and grass is wet. This keeps my feet and lower legs dry and warm. I take them off when the temps come up and the grass/brush dries out and put them in my pack. I use them some here in Texas when archery hunting in wet weather too. I want dry feet when stalking or hunting from a blind.
