Looking for some axis, Sitka, oryx or gemsbok, blackbuck, and some whitetail stocker bucks and bred does. Anyone have any information on how and where are good places to buy, please let me know. This is for a friends ranch between Rocksprings and Del Rio. Neither of us have any experience with this and figured I could get some good advice and feedback from you guys.

I went to an exotic game auction in Harper, Tx. one time several years ago. Raz Livestock sales. Didn't buy, just killed a day while the wife shopped in Fredericksburg. I don't know if they're still in business. As far as private sales go I have no idea.

Personally I would buy from the people who actually breed and raised the animals. They will have probably been taken better care of and not put under as much stress as those from an auction. If I was going to get animals from an auction I would probably get them from the YO Auction. They will have been taken better dare of and you won't have to worry about cutting ear tags off. WT you really need to get from a breeder so you know first hand what you are buying. I hope you realize what you are getting into.

Well I am sure we haven't thought of everything we should with getting into the exotics, but we have tried. I understand your point of buying from breeders, makes a lot of sense. That is kind of the direction I was thinking myself, but I have heard of the auction at Harper and was wondering about that as a possible option. Thanks for everyones comments so far. Keep them coming. And if anyone has any contacts of breeders, I would sure be interested in them as well.

Get on exotic trader on Facebook, and just wait. Deals always pop up specially this time of the year.

I'm not ready yet, but Exotic Trader on FB is where I'm watching prices and trying to figure out who to buy from.
