Digging through some old photos and found a few of a great day I had in 2010. Got a call early one afternoon asking me to join a team of guns on a driven pheasant and partridge shoot in North Yorkshire, England.
Made the long drive up over night and was up early for the day ahead.
This is a well established driven game shoot, averaging 500 bird days with the best guns.
Didn't get too many photos as the day was non stop. I took over 500 shots that day alone.
Think from memory we finished with 539, mixed bag pheasant and partridge. High, fast birds. They were all in the air before you even saw or heard them.
If anyone ever wants to try a driven day in England I have some great people I could put you in touch with.

The quarry drive to finish the day. Highest point is 315ft. We were shooting 1 1/2oz 3s all day. I have no shame in admitting I took 128 shots for 11 birds on this drive. They were up there and moving with the wind behind them.

At 70+ yards up, with a 40mph tail wind... Driven shooting in England is not walking them up and killing at 15 yards.
If you're not missing those then you sir need to start instructing or competing for a living. I can admit that they beat me!

This is a good English high bird shoot.

I hope he was joking, Pheasants can take some lead.

Thanks for posting the pics and story!
