Went chasing axis and pigs this weekend with the Creedmoor. I've been reloading the ELD-X since it came out and love it. I bought a box of the Precision Hunter to see how it shoots vs. my loads. I had several rounds stick in the chamber making it very hard to work the bolt to unload. They all came out with a little effort and all of them showed a ring on the bullet about 1/8" up from the case. I shot a couple jackrabbits and they worked fine with no issues, just unloading a live round.
Thoughts????

Sounds like they are jamming into the lands.
What kind of rifle are you using?

Would be odd to have factory ammo jamming in the lands on a factory rifle.
Do you have a comparator to measure from base to ogive so you could compare the rounds with some other factory rounds and your handloads?
Give Hornady a call and see what they have to say.

Would be odd for them to be intended that way. I don't think it would be odd for them to be a screw up. Like said if they are leaving markings on the bullet they are probably jamming measure the OAL if it is greater than spec I would contact the manufacturer.
It's hell eatin em live

Shot some 7 RM precision hunter in my buddy's Rem 770 with zero issues. In fact, we were consistently shooting 1" groups at 100 yds. Not bad for a junk rifle and factory ammo.

The bullet is seated out a little too long, and is making contact with the rifling.

Reason 1,999 to load your own. I'm liking the ELD's too but haven't tested them game yet. I like berger too but had two deer run with no blood trail both shots were 2-3in behind the shoulders but still found them only ran 30 yards, all other deer DRT with bergers.
