Like stated above, he is certainly an impressive, wide 8 maybe lacking a bit of tine length but still very close 140" IMO.

Shot one very similar to this last year, went 127"...my guess is a low to mid 130s buck.

Not trying to be a debbie downer here, as this is a nice buck, but I don't think this buck would have gone over 130" last year. He looks big but I don't think he's as big as you think he is. He should be really nice this year if he fills out and adds some length. I have a 138" 8 point on my wall and he's much heavier and much longer than the photos of this deer.

in my opinion, that deer has better main beams and longer tines than the OP's deer. But I think the OP's deer could be that big this year...

The OP's posted 8 point I think is in the mid 130's on score. Long beams(average around 23") and great spread give him a good frame. He lacks mass(27-28") also. His tine length is good enough with his frame to get him up there into mid 130's- 134" to 137". The one thing he has going for him (if he is still alive) is a very wet winter and spring. He is mature so he could add quite a bit of inches of beam and tine length. Tine and beam length account on average for 70% of the final score. Mass and spread only 30%. He has the two most important with an above average spread to give him a great look.

I hope you get him! I got my biggest 8 ever, last November.

It takes a bunch of bone for an 8 point to hit 140+. The buck in the pics is no where close.

I'm getting impatient - and worried. We've had cameras running in his home territory for a month now and I can't find him. Hope we didn't 'over-cook' him and he up and died on us. I know he made it through rifle season; he is just a ghost now.

FOUND HIM!!




I resurrected an old setup with a new feeder and the ghost appeared! Looks like he gained a little mass, bladed out his 2s, and added some length to his 3s. He has rubbed out and is hard horned already. This is the first and only picture we have of him so far this Summer. Hopefully with this new/old setup, hopefully we can figure out a pattern and stick him with an arrow on opening weekend.
