For awhile it seemed like every summer something would go wrong with my game cams. One time l had ants in there but the other 3 that have broken during the summer months I have no idea but speculating that it was the extreme heat. Anyways two years ago started taking them down in May and putting them back up in September and as result have not had to buy any new cams since making this change. Does anybody else do the same thing or noticed problems with their cams during the summer? Would love to keep them up year round but don't want to have to buy new cameras every fall

I'm currently running my Covert trail cams year around. The only problem I have is battery life seems to be shorter with the warmer temps. I use a seven dust diluted in water, then applied to the outside of the camera and on the door seal, using a cotton swab or ball. This hels with ants and other insects. I get a few run- away pics from the heat waves but not a real big deal.

Years ago I had all kinds of various problems with my cameras. Out of frustration I made plywood boxes for all of them that protect them from direct rain and sun. The problems went away and camera life has been exceptional. You just need to tailor the opening for the sensor, lens and flash. I'm still running one old Moultrie D6 that's nine years old.

It makes a huge difference IMO. This will be year six for some of our Bushnell Trophy Cams and I'm convinced its because we put them out Aug 1st and take them up New years...Its not just that the summer is brutal, Jan and feb can take a toll as well depending on what part of the state you are in.

Since we switched to Bushnells, we haven't had any issues. Leave them up year round.

I'm running some moltries. They have been out for 3 years non stop and are running good. One had some batteries leak in it and it corroded the battery tray, it seems to have shortened the battery life a little on that one when compared to the others, but is still one of the best trail cams we have used. Keeping them in a box out of the elements does help but I never seem to keep up with it.

It protects the camera pretty good.
