Oldest son came up yesterday to help with the final emptying of the last storage unit at Texoma, and took me up on the offer of lunch at one of the best neat fun places I know of anywhere to eat afterwards...at the Omage to the Soda Shops of the 1950's & '60s car culture, called MG's in Sherman.

Looks like something out of Hollywood movie, only thing missing is teenagers dancing,...and smells like the Mom & Pop burger joints at home growing up in South Oak Cliff up & down Hampton @ Illinois or Lemmon Ave around Inwood east of Love Field of the 50's & '60's.

From the Juke Box loaded with period music, to the rare and fun to look at collections of things like hood ornaments & tail lights from cars of the California styled Glory Years of Rock & Roll of my wasted youth ...this place could just as well be a museum worth going thru...but then you'd miss the hand made selection of burgers, hand cut fabulous fries and rings, on fresh every day yeast rolls that are the real draw.

My fav is a 1/2lb of fresh ground beef called a "Dodge", loaded with chili, onion rings and mustard...heavenly and a heart attack waiting to happen when washed down with all you can drink real home made sweet Tea...& a 1/2 of a sammitch basket sized piled to overflowing with cooked to order hand battered hand cut onion rings.

Gonna miss this place, but prolly not gonna drive the 3 hours one way up there from Palestine for a hambuger....but will make the stop any & every time it's possible rather than eat at some corporate burger joint.

2 blocks west of the Albertsons, on Fairview St and worth the drive from Dallas for sure.
Ron

It's like Yesterday's in Bridgeport. They have a train running the wall around the entire area.

...MG's on North Woods...Yep ...at the corner of Fairview....2 blocks west of Albertsons from the Travis St side.

Fairview east bound is the street that deadends into Travis at the middle entrance to the west side of Albertson's parking lot, and even with Albertson's front door, and lot easier for me to find that way off Travis than accessing North Wood's, with a stop sign at every corner it seems like. cheers
