I don't see anything wrong with this;

"The law takes effect immediately. “Rap Back” allows Hawaii police to be notified when a Hawaii firearm owner is arrested anywhere in the U.S. In addition, the law allows Hawaii police to evaluate whether a firearm owner should continue owning a gun after being arrested"

You'd be surprised how many people there are opposed to this. A lot of the people that were born and raised there are opposed to big govt. It's a lot of the haoles that are transplants from other states that drive this. Then there are those who think Hawaii should be a sovereign nation. A lot of good people over there that are in a lot of ways similar to the average small town Texan. Got along with them well when I lived there.

It is the idea that law abiding gun owners will be put in a criminal database and monitored simply because they own a firearm that is the issue.

I would have to look into the other law a little deeper, but they have a law on the books that:
Quote:
that requires firearm owners diagnosed with a mental, behavioral or emotional disorder to surrender their firearms.

Wonder what their definition of a disorder is and which ones count. Sure are alot of people diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, OCD, and other disorders that are responsible gun owners. Also, if you get "cured", does that reverse the order?

the mere fact that you have to register is enough to make me dislike it, add to that the fact that govt. screws up more than it gets right and you just compound the problem.
I have no problem with someone losing the right to own for felonies, surrender them for felonies, protective order being issued because they are all adjudicated and finalized in a court of law. to have a state send info to the fbi simply due to you owning a firearm is, imo, the first step to confiscation and losing the second. if I am right then which one is next? the fourth, first 5th?

what if you are arrested in arkansas and later charges dropped, how long does it take to get your record cleared so you can not only buy but get what you own back?

just the way I see it.

Federal law trumps this, it won't stand.

Not aware of a recent ruling, just the one they declined to review, This and other states jumping on the idiot bandwagon may make it's way back to the SCOTUS. NRA will have this tied up in court shortly. Why does anyone think this is OK???

Ahh, the search and seizure ruling. Being one seat short I'm glad they didn't review the Conn. Case. At least it can go back before the court if we get the idiots out of office.

I was shocked by the ruling. Conservative or Liberal shouldn't matter. Constitution is the constitution...or at least it was.

Anyone know of an event that this would have stopped? There's already a law regarding guns and a felony.
Seems like pure idiotic liberalism.

Two major things wrong:

1. Being put on a US list for owning a gun

2. Giving police authority to "evaluate' whether a person should continue to own a gun after being arrested

Agreed, I'll be on our yearly Maui vacation soon and I'll send a postcard! As far as Mexico goes...what a DUMP! I wouldn't go to that [censored]-hole if the trip was all expenses paid. flag

So you agree to allow the police to confiscate a persons firearm without due process? Being arrested and being convicted are completely different!

So your dog poops on the neighbors yard and she reports you as unsafe. They take your guns. That's what is wrong with this.

"Low information voters" cannot grasp the "slippery slope" concept and the left relies on that fact.

The wife wants to see Hawaii. I'm taking her to Fiji instead. Y'all can have wall-to-wall tourists.
