As I did more research and reading the feedback on my earlier thread. I went with the 28 gauge. I looked at all the "Turkey" guns, RE; all the inexpensive O/U's made in Turkey. Great little guns.

I ventured into Cabelas Monday and saw 3, Franchi, Aspire O/U's they had one in .28. It was on closeout, pretty good price, so I bought it. Really nice little gun, great fit/finish, 28" barrels, screw in chokes with selective-auto ejectors.

Now my question is which loading. I'm leaning to the Winchester AA 3/4oz 8's @ 1200fps or 3/4oz 7-1/2 #1300fps.
Dove hunting and sporting clays, which one???

Also, which chokes, Imp Cylinder/Mod???

Heading to Elm Fork tomorrow to shoot it on whatever game is available (not under water)

I'll try to get some pics and reports up tomorrow during happy hour cheers

It sounds to me like you're about to spend some time at the patterning board. Good luck and I hope you do well on the dove.

Buzz, if you wind up on a skeet field choose the most open chokes you have. If sporting clays go with improved. If you only have 1 of each, skeet/improved for either, you may give up a couple longer targets on sporting clays but gain back other closer targets with open chokes. P_102

IC on doves, Winchester sporting clay, 1300 fps, 8 1/2 shot, Walmart $9.95. It's deadly.

I don't think it is. I much prefer 7 1/2, especially for whitewings. I seldom even shoot 8's at claybirds. Just too much dust and not enough hard breaks. Now quail, that's another story. 8's or 9's all day long. Quail were born lookin for a place to die.

Of those, not that 8.5s wouldn't work, but I'd go with the 7.5s.

I load 28 with a MEC reloader, that way I can make the loads I want. I even have some ITX #6 loaded for teal. If you decide to try that route ballisticproducts.com for the components, Cabela's will have the reloader

best to pattern YOUR gun to see what chokes work the best, with my Milano, the best pattern is with full & full.

I had a Yildiz 28g that was fantastic gun. Ended up selling it and regretted it.
