I'm so sick of ignorant people assuming that AR stands for something it does not and the liberal politicians inventing a term to stereotype a firearm that they have no idea how the majority of legal owners intend to use. There is little hope in educating them. I worked as a teacher in an urban district for the past twelve years, and learned from experience that "Some men you just can't reach".

I propose we stop using the term AR15 altogether, unless specifically referencing an Armalite rifle chambered in 5.56. I would also suggest terms like MSR-223, MSR-300, MSR-6.8, and MSR-308 would eliminate some confusion when referencing a particular chambering as well as confounding the ignorant people who still think that just anyone can "legally buy a machine gun".

I'm sick of the multiple paid idiots that dramatically describe the caliber as "the most powerful, lethal bullet there is". But, if they'd ever calm down and study enough to understand the mechanics of it all, they'd want to ban Remington 742s and every other semi-auto.

The Armalite 5.56 is an M-15.

You know that the whole AR-15 thing is really just a pretext, right? If you look at England, Australia, etc., they started with the autoloaders using the same language, then continued on to pump actions, and on and on until now it's difficult to buy even a single shot. The whole auto thing is just an excuse. Make no mistake, the goal is a total or near total ban, regardless of whatever lies they're currently broadcasting.

It don't matter what you call it the anti's will take it out of context. MSR will mean Modern Sporting Rifle to you but I damn well promise you it will mean Military Something Rifle to them..and you don't need no military rifle (to paraphrase a brain dead anti).

So what happens to all the banned guns when a country makes the move? I'm not up to speed on how other countries managed the bans but would the owners be expected to turn in the guns or what?

Also the term MSR wouldn't work in my opinion due to the moving goal post of ethics and morals that the media loosely follows.

For example the last few years they made a concerted effort to not say the shooters name as a means to not provide them any post massacre glorification and to hopefully limit the thought by copycats or other unsavory types to do the same for fame.

Well with Orlando they are saying this dudes name at every opportunity ...

They don't play by the own rules much less yours/ours

The government will confiscate the guns and make it a felony if you don't turn them in within a "grace period". Then they will make a big show of destroying the guns with steam rollers and chopping them up in a scrap yard.

Yeah, we should bow to politically correct sensitivities and start renaming our weapons and actions so as to make them seem less "mean." Before you know it hunters will be using the word "harvest" in place of kill.

oh wait....

I think it's pretty cool that they still use steam powered rollers in Mexico! We should use that technology.

yep, sure, why not
