My son will be 9 in November and he will be hunting with me anyways but at what age can they take the hunter education class? And what license will he need?

He can take it now. He needs the youth license no matter what he is hunting. It is cheap. If he is hunting with you then he doesn't need the hunters safety yet.

If you are looking for some good hunts for him, look into the Texas Youth Hunting Program. They have some really good hunts for very little money.

This... He'll need to take the hunter's ed class and buy a $7 license. Took my son on one of their hunts last year and it was very good for both of us even though we were both already very experienced hunters.

Texas Youth Hunting Program is a great organization, but the youth must have hunter ed and hunting license. Minimum age for hunter ed and TYHP is 9.

He can hunt with you all you want as long as he has a youth license which cost $7.00
