Long story short, I lost my Yeti cup and my next trip to Wally World, landed me a 20 oz. Ozark Trail cup. It looked identical to my old Yeti and is a pretty decent cup. I don't know if it was the Yeti syndrome (like many have on here) or what, but I swore it didn't hold ice like my Yeti did. Well, I got a new Yeti cup for Fathers day so I figured I would do a Yeti vs. Ozark Trail ice test for you fan boys.

For you mad scientists out there, I left both cups empty over night to make sure the internal temps were the same. I brought them to work with me this morning and proceeded with my test. I didn't let any grizzlies attack them, or let them sit out in the 110* temps, but they were both sitting next to each other in the same environment.

8:45 am - 8 full cubes of ice in each cup, and filled with the same amount of water. I then placed them with lids on one of my desks and let them both sit.

3:45 pm - pulled the lids off for a pic.

4:23 pm - Ozark Trail ice finally fully melted.

So the verdict??

Yeti won the ice test but for the price difference, it was a decent comparison. Yeti at $29.99 and the OT at $7.74...

Your ice melts fast. But I would agree that bang for the buck goes to OT

Anything I drink doesn't sit that long in a cup/mug, so $7.74 is fine by me. May loose a few Yeti friends since I "aint" in the "club" though, but oh well.. BTW, I saw them at the Walmart in Decatur on the endcap at a register, now I will have to grab a couple to keep my one Yeti cup company grin

Thanks for the info, but what's this have to do with hunting?

My drinks typically don't either. I fill it pretty regularly, but was just curious how it was. FWIW I was not expecting the yeti at all. I was content with my OT, but apparently the wife didn't think so. I'm not complaining. I've got a pretty awesome wife grin

'Just trying to figure out how my thread about me stupidly cutting my hand cleaning an axis, after hunting and killing it, got so quickly bounced to the OT. Fickle winds of fate I suppose.

I have a Yeti 20 and 30 and two Ozark Trail 20 oz. cups (the Yetis were gifts). I haven't done a structured test like yours, but based on using them they seem to work equally well. No way would I pay the extra money for a Yeti.

I didn't the same test except with hot water using my double meat probe thermometer. The oz ark kept a 1 degree warmer temp for about 6 hours. 126 degrees - 90

Yeti gifts are always good gifts, Grizz. Come to think of it, all my yetis have been gifts

Nice test BIL. Now I know which one to use as my back up coffee during deer season.

We also have the 20 and the 30 oz of both Ozark and Yeti cups. We did the same test with both, it was close enough that my granddaughter called it a tie and took my Ozark cup as hers.

Did same thing with the yeti and rtic. Yeti may have edged it out but it was close enough I wouldn't buy another yeti. Realistically I don't need ice in a cup that long. Easy to refill.

It don't matter as long as you get a Yeti sticker for your truck or Prius.

Maybe back in high school retfuz. Nowadays the only stickers that go on my truck don't have a brand. All extra stickers go on the yeti cooler roflmao

I guess picking up poop has it's rewards.

The real benefit to these cups us being able to fill it with ice, and carry warm drinks in your backpack while hunting. You can be use the same ice for several drinks.
