I have a pre ban oly sgw with a 20" barrel of unknown twist rate. Good shooter but I want a scope. Thinking of buying a complete flat top upper, 16" barrel in a 1 to 7 twist. Any opinions on a lower cost model? Looking to do some pig hunting.

I used one of these on a budget build. $369 for the complete upper. http://www.wisearms.com/collections/ar-1...charging-handle

I'm assuming my BCG and charging handle will interchange?

Yes

I was hoping to post some links to Palmetto State uppers that were available on-sale last week; but it seems those deals are sold out and that the prices are changing.

You might want to move quickly on that which you have in mind.

This one..you'll need to get a BCG and CH about another $100 or use the ones from your current upper but you can't beat the price:

Sign up for the PSA e-mails. They have sales about twice a week.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I wish PSA would put the 7.62x39 uppers on sale.

twice a week? Seems like I am getting 2 emails a day from those guys....

I do like PSA.

Few weeks ago they were running their Freedom MOE carbine uppers for $189. I have one, decent shooting little upper. Also have one of the flattop keymod 5.56's that I think I gave $289 for. Functions fine, haven't put the screws to it to see how accurate it is.

Bob. I might suggest Granite Ridge outfiterrs has Aero Enhanced uppers with freefloat rail for around $190-$250 shipped depending on which one. Get that, save a few more pennies for a barrel in 6.5, 6.8, 300blk, etc. Add a gas system and whatever bolt mags and you could put together a nice upper on your own.

I always double check with go and no go gauges for peace of mind.
