For the week of memorial day my self, my buddy John, his brother Matt and Father Rich loaded up and made the trip to Canada for a week of fishing with Wilderness Air out of Vermillion Bay Ontario.

https://www.wilderness-air-escapes.com/fishing-trips/

DFW to Chicago O'Hare then to Winnipeg and drive north to Vermillion Bay and load our gear and guide Ted into an Otter and were off.

Left to right you have - my self, John, Rich, Ted(our guide) & Matt

With all the water we had (16,000ac I Believe) I knew it was going to be a good week.

Our home for the week was a 2 bedroom cabin with lights, 2 propane fridge/freezers, hot shower, propane stove and there was even a separate sauna if you wanted to fire it up.

All we had to bring was our fishing tackle- Rods, line, lures and they supplied 16' Lund boats with 9.9hp Yamaha outboards, life jackets, anchors, paddles, ect.

Ted our guide as it turned out was an amazing cook, I can hold my own with anybody in the kitchen but it was nice to come back after a hard day fishing and sit down to food like this.....

Bacon wrapped Walleye, fried pike and fresh cooked bannock with raspberry jam, was a great way to start the day.

To my surprise Ted even knew how to properly do a steak.... and ribs, fried lake trout, Caesar salad, sautéed mushrooms and garlic herb Yukon potatoes.

I tried to keep track of how many fish we caught but I simply gave up; I remember one morning my self and John had caught and released 27 pike in the first 2 hours of fishing.

The lake had Pike, Walleye, Trout and Musky .... None of which I had ever caught before and I set the goal of catching each of the 4 types of fish; only to be told that Musky are the "Fish of 10,000 casts"

Matt with one of the many Walleye we caught; the biggest of which was 27" but sadly we didn't get a pic of it

My first ever Lake Trout

Musky - "The fish of 10,000 casts" made his appearance while I was fishing for Walleye; Murphy's law being a ruling factor in my life this fish hit a 4" Cabela's yellow and white twister tail jig with a 3/8oz(I think) blaze orange jig head on a 4' long Shakespeare micro spinning combo that I bought at academy for $24.99 years ago..... The line Berkley XL Smooth 6lbs

As the sun set on our list day of fishing I could only think that this had started as a trip of a lifetime; but is going to turn into a yearly adventure.

I can't say enough about our outfitter Wilderness air, they literally took care of everything. When we arrived our grocery order including liquor and beer was ready and waiting for a flawless excursion.

That is Awesome! I hate to ask, but I will what does a trip like that cost per person.

Plus whatever it cost you to get to Vermillion Bay from Texas. You could drive it but you'd be looking at 2 (really long days) to 3 days on the road each way.

Air fare(from DFW), food, tackle, 2 nights hotel, rental car and outfitter fees was $2,500ish per person; and worth every penny.

Also consider that your fishing, so while on a regular vacation your out seeing things and generally spending money; instead your fishing with no where to spend money.

Great pics and it really looks like a fun trip. I flew an otter in the army.... take off at 80... cruise at 80 and land at 80. Had a toolbox slide forward on landing causing me to ground loop the ____ thing. Never got back in one again.
