I have a polymer lower on my AR M4 style. I think it is a 4 position?
Anyhow, my son got me an early fathers day present. A Magpul MOE stock for my AR.
The Magpul must use a smooth buffer tube So I ordered a new metal one from Amazon.
I got everything back together .... However the original tube had a notch for a buffer weight keeper.
The new tube is shorter in the threaded area and has no notch for the keeper.
Now there is nothing to contain and compress the buffer spring.
What do I need ?

You don't have to have the notch. Just tighten the tube far enough to hold the keeper in place and then tighten the castle nut over the lock ring.
If the threads are too short to hold the keeper in place, then return the buffer tube and get a different one.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

The tube has a boss behind the threaded section. It threads on until it bottoms against the boss. Still has about 1/8 inch to go before it would hold the keeper in place.

Then I would contact Amazon and send it back.

Post some pictures or link to buffer tube from amazon. The delta ring and end plate should be adjustable by loosening the castle nut and then tightening it after the tube is in place. Perhaps he bought an airsoft tube by mistake.

Oh yeah, forgot about the airsoft parts. I really wish Amazon would require sellers to clearly post whether they are selling airsoft parts or not. I usually read through the Q&A section and the reviews to figure out if it's an airsoft part or not before buying.

I've got a pistol buffer tube that you don't use a castle nut on. Try to post a picture of it.

That is an A2 "rifle" buffer tube it's for fixed stocks only. You need a carbine buffer tube. There are 2 different types as well a commercial and milspec depending on what stock you have will determine which buffer tube you need. If it's a 4 position colt CAR type stock you'll most likely need the milspec tube.

That's an A2 rifle length tube for a non-adjustable rifle stock. You will need a rifle spring and rifle buffer to go with it. You just thread it on until it almost touches the keeper.
