It'll be a few months before my stamp is back but I'm looking for a scope for a 10.5" 7mm08 AR. I think I'm set on the Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x with the Ballistic Firedot reticle. Another contender would be Bushnell Elite 1-6.5x24. Gonna use it on deer and hogs out to 300ish yards. Open to other ideas, want something fairly compact, illuminated reticle SFP under $800.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Since it is gonna be an SBR I would go with a 1-4 or 1-6 just bc they are lighter and more compact.

Super happy with my SS 1-6X, Mil/Mil FFP. I've ran it out to 400 yards with no problem. Works great at up close and personal, as well.

I went with a SWFA 1-4 got it out to 500 easily. 1-6 would have been nice for a little further range but I feel confident I could kill a hog out to 500 and that why I built it. My upgrade to the 1-6 at some point.

I have the SWFA 1-4x24 and it's works well but I wish I would have gotten something a little less clunky looking.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

To each his own. I'm more about performance than aesthetics.

For your needs the Leupold should be just about perfect. Do it!

The VX-R comes in a 2-7x32. It will get you out to 300 yards on a hog. Being smaller than the 3-9 I like the way an AR handles much better with a 2-7 than a 3-9. Don't own one but feel it would be even more so with an SBR.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I really like those scopes and Natchez occasionally has them for $100 off.
