 Do quail like maize?

Have access to several hundred pounds of maize. Just curious if quail like it and if it is healthy for them.

Spread it. Don't put it in feeders. They love it.

They love the hell out of it but it doesn't last long, all the little chit birds get in on the game, that's why I only feed whole corn.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I mix in a bag of milo with my corn in the feeders.

I would use a large seed to feed other than milo. A quail will have to spend to much time in the open picking up as many grains of milo as it needs to fill its craw than if you us a larger grain/seed size. That larger seed means less time eating and exposed to predators. Also look at higher protein value seed vs that value of milo/corn.

This is what they feed at southern quail plantations to supplement food for wild quail. Try to spread it near loafing cover and not in the open away from cover.
