a couple weeks back I picked up a Ruger flat top 44spl. before long I was in love (well, except for the stainless hammer and trigger!) the fit and finish are perfect, the action was pretty smooth and the BC gap is almost non existent. I haven't had a chance test it on paper yet, just steel. but so far I couldn't be happier.

after a while I decided it needed a good set of stocks and a holster. first I dug through my Ivory box and found two pieces that were wide enough and then set about fitting them to the grip frame. the left side came from a large outer cutoff that was part of a tusk I worked with a while back. most grip makers would probably have called it junk and scraped it since it was cracked at the top but these stocks will see a lot of use so I didn't mind the cracks. it's just character. I did fill the cracks with clear Epoxy so they won't get any worse though.

after fitting the stocks I started on the Holster. this is the second one I've made and while it turned out better than the first I still need some practice. it's Threepersons style I took from Will Ghormley's 1911 pattern. interestingly the dye I used on the holster was Tapadera's N-35 gunstock stain. it's meant to replicate the color used on vintage Winchester Rifle stocks.

I couldn't decide which picture I liked the best so y'all will have to see them all lol.

I think it looks awesome. To pick a photo, I like the fence post with holster and carbine.

ONly thing I see is that carbine needs to be a 44 as well. Just something about matching caliber sets.

well I've always been partial to a 30-30 but I must say a large lever 92 in 44mag would go real well with this flat top.

Very nice work! I have a 94 in .44 that is a constant companion. I've owned several Blackhawks, but nothing like that.

great rig and craftsmanship. I have the same gun with the 4 5/8" barrel, really shoots good. I'm toying with sending it to Hamilton Bowen for his action job, sights, color case hardening and high polish blue.

LOVE your grips !!! jeez

Nice work. Both the Ruger and the Winchester look like they'd be a pleasure to handle and admire.

thank you!

it was either buy a little Ivory before the ban or buy some of the guns I've always wanted. I figure I can get the guns down the road.

Hamilton is one of the best revolver smiths there is. when I picked up this flat top I also acquired a Octagon barreled super Blackhawk. it's not marked as one of his but supposedly it is. Hamilton couldn't remember for sure but said it was in keeping with his early work.
