I can get both scopes within 100$ of each other (nightforce being 100 cheaper). This is going on a hunting rig and right now I only have experience with moa but have no problems switching to mils if needed. Both are 5-25, NF is milR reticle first focal, swarovski has brmi second focal.

My shots range from 150 to 1200 yards although I wont shoot a deer over 800 because of my limitations. I will like to target shoot out to a mile from time to time but not in competition. Ill get two of the scopes so both guns are the same. Calibers will be 6.5 saum and 300 win mag.

Im not looking for a ffp vs sfp debate just trying to find the right tool for the job.
What do you think.

NF.

When mirage gets bad, you will want the ability to turn down the magnification to make the sight picture clearer, so there's the FFP nod. NF is known for toughness, and is built to be dialed until your hands have blisters. Swarovski does not have that reputation, quite the opposite. Swarovski is known for terrific clarity, but I have looked through a new NF ATACR, and shot with it, and the clarity was outstanding.

Nightforce all the way, no question.

That is probably the easiest choice one could make. Without hesitation- Nightforce! However, I wouldn't mind putting the newer "tactical" Swarovski's through their paces to see how the internals hold up to dialing and such. The ONLY thing I like about the Swarovski is the clear glass (as is most hunters), but it stops there. I've had multiple issues with Swarovski scopes over the years once you start dialing on their turrets. Plus the BMR-I reticle on the Swarovski is about as useful as a monkey humping a football.

If you ever venture to the Georgetown/temple area, your more than welcome to look through my ATACR. The next two weekends I'm covered up, but after that as of this second I'm free.

BTW, I'm in love with this scope. Unfortunately I cant compare it side by side with the Swarovski, but I would have gotten this scope a second time if I could take back time.

For strictly hunting I'd go with Swarovski but not sure how well it does tracking wise. I have a Z6i for hunting and love it. Forgiving eye box and bright! I have more expensive scopes but the clarity of my Swarovski is amazing.

Not sure on the travel of the X5 but my Z6i with the ballistic reticle is severely handicapped. I can only get out to 6-700 yards with dialing.

With that said in your situation though NF all the way since you want them to match.

Chris at sportoptics was very helpful when I asked this same question to him. He said these are the two scopes he has on his hunting rifles and he wouldnt change a thing. He said the Swarovski has the best set of turrets he has ever used.

I bought one of each just to test. Ill be selling the one I decide against.

Thanks guys!
