In the backyard right now.

She must have jumped in because the gate is closed.

Guess I'll go open it as the little one probably can't jump the fence yet.

She did the same thing last year, and cleaned out the rose bushes while she was visiting.

If the gate is closed, how did the fawn get in?

This.

Went and opened the gate, but she is busy eating the rose bushes. We don't use chemicals on them, so she will be fine and saves me some pruning work. smile

That's a meaty doe to only have one fawn. Shoot her!

Thats a great pic, they will definitely trim the plants for you. Mama knows where she is safe and is doing her best to protect that baby.

We see this every year. If you don't want them in there then open the gate, but in my experience momma had her in there because it was safe.

We have them every year, up to 4 one year in about a 1/3 acre back yard. The does come in and drop fawns then leave them there and go eat and come back a few times a day to check on them. It will amaze you how fast they will be able to jump a 4' CL fence if they are pressured. It kinda stinks because we loose the use of the yard for a good bit during the spring, but its cool to watch too. Only have one so far this year.

Looks like she returned for the rose buffet. Looks like a great place to drop a fawn.

Cool pic and experience. Thanks for sharing it. up

Yep, I have a friend with several semi pet deer. He put a kiddie pool out for his dog to play in and the deer ended up getting in it too. Fun to watch the deer and the dog playing together.

my wife gets extremely ticked at the deer for eating her roses!!! I am in charge of spraying the roses frequently with Liquid Fence. We have a nice little herd of 5-6 does and 4-5 bucks that frequent our place but stay outside the fence, my blue heeler keeps them out. I still haven't seen any fawns from our group though.
