Have a guy doing some work at our place near Lockhart. He found this guy hiding on the front pourch by the door tonight. Seems like a odd spot, mabye all the rain we've been getting had him looking for cover.

Those are cool looking snakes. I hope to find one someday. We don't have them out west.

Yes it's dead. They guy that was working there killed it.

After years of leasing, we decided to buy our own place this year. It's only 25 acres, but it's ours. It was VERY overgrown with a house hidden in the middle of it. Crazy that someone was living there. I will have to post some before & after pictures of the clearing & house remodel project which is coming along nicely. Anyways after clearing all kind of debris around the place, we have seen a few snakes, but most slithered off faster that we could identify them. I had never seen a coral. I have 9 & 11 year old curious boys & am they didn't come across it!

Next week is the bee hive removal that we found in a dead tree close to the house. I will NOT be doing that...lol

The bees won't bother you. I've had a hive in a tree since we moved in.

I just had some dozer work done & they are in a tree not far up right on the edge of the new trail. I worry more about my boys who will be riding there 4 wheelers through there hitting the tree or pissing um off. You know how curious boys are. The gut doing the work was stung a few times.
But they do seem very calm now, we took a picture of hive. Just wish they were further back in trees. I have someone that wants them coming to get them just to be safe.

Coral snakes show around here about once a year. Have one in the freezer now. They don't seem to be very aggressive. They are
more interested in getting away.

We found one neat Brady when I was a kid. They can be confused with a king snake, (I think) but the pattern is different.
I was taught red and yellow (together) will kill a fellow.

If it was red and black, it was a king snake.

Ya I was reading up on um. Sounds like youd have to have your hands in wrong place to get bitten or mabye step on them barefooted I guess. So basically leave them alone & probably no worries. Pretty cool looking snake actually, but I'm gald it's not chillin by my front door anymore also. Sounds like a bad day if you were to get bitten.

I've only seen 2, and they were trying to get away as fast as they could.

Very big one, we used to see one every few years at my parents house in Marshall. Needless to say none of them lived very long after they were seen.

Not a king snake, a Mexican milk snake. We found one in the house when I was little, parent thought it was a coral snake at first.

I'm pretty sure a scarlet king snake looks like a coral snake more than any other snake
