Has anyone taken their FLIR RS model thermal scopes off their rifle to use as a monocular, and then remounted it to the rifle to engage your target when hunting? I am wanting to try it and see if it will maintain the POI as before. It has the Larue QD type mounts, so I am wondering if it will work in this manner. I will try it next time out.

I did it with my X-Sight, stayed dead on. I have the LaRue QD on mine as well.

Regardless of mount or sight, I could never trust it. I'd have to check it anyway. Folks have reported mixed results.

Given the weight of the X-Sight, I was extremely skeptical it would work. It's been on/off 10+ times, POI hasn't moved. Just my experience...
