Anybody reload with Nosler Partitions? I am having a terrible time working up loads with good accuracy. Less than 3/4 inch at 100 yds. I have not had any problems with Ballistic Tips or TSX's. Do the partitions run better with hot loads or slow loads? Thanks Daniel

From what I've heard is if your getting 3/4 with partions your good to go. They are not known for tiny groups but great killing power. I've got some but haven't loaded any yet.

I have used Partitions for a long time. I have confidence in their terminal performance, but they don't shoot as tight for me as the Ballistic Tip or Accubond.

I think most people that use partitions would find 3/4" more than acceptable for big game hunting. It might help of you gave more specifics about the cartridge and particular partition you are trying.

Nosler Partitions are not a tight grouping bullet, but its a great bullet for hunting. I once took down a 750 pound nilgai with a 140 Nosler Partition from a 7 Mag squarely in the chest and it DRT.

To many If not most that shoot partitions 3/4 inch is good enough. Remember this is a flat based 2 core bullet that the jacket is drawn in 2 different directions. That said I have had some groups under half inch but am usually happy with 3/4 inch groups with partitions.
The bullet was designed from the ground up to shed about 1/3 to 1/4 of its weight in as John Nosler called them secondary projectiles which open ip a bigger wound canal and off shoot from that in different directions causing more expanding damage, while the core and remainder of the jacket provide deep penetration. In the 40s when the bullet was designed the first time it was his replacement for a better design after bullet failure with cup and core pointed nosed bullets from a 300 Wby Magnum that he shot a moose with mud caked on its hide. The following year 2 Alaskan moose were taken by one shot each from the same hunters with the same rifles and the partition bullet had taken its first game animals.
I have used lots of partitions since 1983 and have killed critters from rabbits to elk with them, on several occasions more than one hog has died from one partition and on one occasion 3 hogs died with one shot. One kill shots have taken place between 7 yards and 509 yards.
The Nosler design engineers were given a challenge to make a bullet that flies like a ballistic tip and works in game like a partition the result is the Accubond.

Like someone else stated... I'm a huge fan of partitions. They aren't paper punching bullets or LR bullets, but in the world of hunting they are as good as it gets to me. I would consider 3/4 inch groups pretty good.
I have two loads that shoot that or better when I'm on my game, one is the very first load I ever loaded for a 270 win and the other is a 223.
In my experience I have seen better results with partitions further rather than closer to the lands. My 270 load is a very mild one, maybe mid range between min and max and the 223 is mid/upper end, so I wouldn't say they like to be pushed hard.
It's hell eatin em live

The difference in the field between benchrest groups of 0.5" and 1.5" is zilch, anyway

I have gotten dime-sized groups with my 25/06 shooting partitions Barnes X an 100 grain Sierra I reajust seating depth for all the bullet my rifle for each one is shaped different. I think that's what causes my 25/06 to shoot well.
