Went to the range Saturday to check some loads. Got there and realized I had forgotten the stand for the Labradar. Normally if shooting suppressed I carry a tripod but the two rifles were not suppressed so I left it too.

The main purpose was to check speeds on a load for a Creedmoor AR10 and my 03A3 30-06.
While standing there pondering making the 30 minute drive home and back I looked at my old bench spotting scope tripod and had a thought. Worked like a champ.

Anyone that shoots enough, and/ or works out of a pickup away from home, figures out how to improvise.

I had used all my baling wire mounting the Nightforce on that AR 10. grin

Yep done that.
Also once I got to the range and my ammo would not chamber... I had used a special rod a friend made me that gives OAL length by measuring to bolt face then remove bolt ,drop your intended bullet in and jam it by tapping.
Then it gives you distance between the two so you have a good idea where land engagement.
Well yes I had forgotten to knock the bullet out and here I am no cleaning rod and stuck... Pun intended.
I had my old Shooting Chrony and took the metal rods that hold the diffusers stacked two and tapped out the bullet. Got to shooting.rifle

I guess that explains why a fellow told me he was shooting at a range in Dallas where a guy who said his name was Izod offered to custom load some .308 for him.
