Funny thing about getting older:
Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.

Pretty sure a 12ga to the head works just as well. And I don't have to catch it first.

I knew you could do that but I'll be damned if I try it. Couldn't get to my gun once snake had me blocked from door under my truck. I was filling feeders in the summer. He crawled up in the shade under my truck. I climbed up in the bed and got a hammer and hit him in the head with it. Then blew his head off once I got to my shotgun. That head couldn't bite anyone either.

OK so if you find yourself in a "rattlesnake situation" you're supposed to walk over to the snake, step on it's head and fling it around by the tail. Next time I find myself in a "rattlesnake situation" I'll put my gun down and give it a try, because it's the only correct way to kill one. Yeah, right.

Speaking with a Park Ranger in the Grand Canyon some years ago, he said roughly 90% of the people who get bit by poisonous snakes know the snake is there and don't avoid it. They're either toying with it, trying to take it's picture, or otherwise getting in its' way.

How to properly kill a rattlesnake? Shoot it from a safe distance works for me.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

And a lot safer too. I'll just let nature be nature and go around it unless it is a real threat to me or someone around me.

people get snakebit because they are close enough
to get bit. if you're close enough to pick one up,
you're close enough to get bit. what if this dude
had lost his footing just a bit, or a scorpion
happened to have crawled up his britches leg and
was stinging him about the time he was reaching
for the snake ? why the eff would anyone even tempt
fate enough to pick one up barehanded ? it's bad
enough just driving the streets with all the unlicensed
uninsured drunken border jumpers we have around now.
why not hold it down with your junk and then pick it up ?

Snake shot from the .38 works well too.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

What a dumbass. We have a hoe propped up on each side of the house to deal with rattlers. Everyone I know that has been bitten was picking them up or playing with them.

In the middle of nowhere like this guy was just keep walking and leave it alone.
Near the house a hoe, the city says I shouldn't use a shotgun in the yard.
