I don't think so.

I wouldn't have thought he could get close enough to step on it without it striking out at him first? Gun, rock, branch.... last thing would be my foot.

The first/only time I were to try this, I would barely miss the 'towel snap' and get bit on the hand or in the belly on the rebound.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Looks to me like a good way to get snake bit. I grew up on a dry land cattle farm in Eastern CO and we had a lot of prairie rattlers there. A shovel worked really good on them and I'm betting it would work just as well on the snakes here in TX.

No other way than something with an effective range further than 6 feet

Well, we gave him what he wanted by watching the video. I wonder what DA stunt he will try next to get some attention.

I hope he tries it on the alligator that strolled across the golf course up

Thrill junkie thinking he is bullet proof, without a clue. It is sad that someone will probably watch this video and try it - and most likely get bit.

I thought he was going to do something extreme -- like biting its head off.

I am not going to get close enough to pick it up, my shotgun works well enough for me if I see the need to kill it. I generally just walk around them and we both go on about our way without further interaction.

Even rattlesnakes have a purpose, taste great too! But 10 feet is close enough for me to hit it with a gun.

Can't say that I have ever been in a "snake situation" where I had the luxury of first stepping on the head of the snake gently enough to just hold it down while I grabbed its tail. I think if I had that luxury, I would just go ahead and crush the head first.

I am not sure that the reason why the snake could not bite is because of a broken neck. That is just stupid. Cutting off the head produces a "broken neck" in the form of a completely severed neck. The broken neck, if it occurred, is probably the least immediately lethal of the snake's injuries. More than likely what has happened during the whipping process is that the snap has burst all the blood vessels in the brain along with doing other brain damage, hence the blood you see draining from the snake in the video.

I like hoes, shotguns, pistols, t posts, rocks, a piece of rebar... heck, shot one on a flat rock with a 7mm mag the first weekend of rifle season one year. I stepped on him first, though.

I'm about as selective at my weapon of choice for killing snakes as my Mama was at whippin' my butt.... The closet thing I can get ahold of.
