Ive heard many say that they prefer AI mags over TRG. Apart from the cost of the TRG mags, I'm a curious as to why.
I have a tikka CTR 308 and find that I greatly prefer the fit and feed from the TRG 22 mag over the AI that another of my tikka has... So much so that I am tinkering with the idea of having a shop one-off a long action custom bottom metal patterned off the CTR to accept a TRG42 mag for that other tikka. Good idea? Bad idea?

If you're ok paying that much then go for it. Personally if I would .much rather pay ai prices than sako be that in aics or aw pattern.

My first precision rifle was a TRG 42 in 300 WM (hence my handle), and I have ran thousands of rounds through my TRG 42 mags. They are really good mags. They hold 7 rounds of 300 WM, where the AI mags can hold 10. They are each a different mag, but do the same thing and are both a quality item. I think the bottom metal options will be more for the AI mags. Either mag system will work flawlessly for you.

Can the feed lips of the 300 wm TRG 42 mags be successfully bent to hold 30-06 parent case?
