I had some 308 brass that I'm not using so I decided to run it through my Hornady full length 260 die. It wasn't easy but I got it done . I tried some cases in my rifle to see if they would fit and nope the bolt will not lock down . So do I need to screw the die in more to set the shoulders back more or should I just scrap the idea?

When sizing 308 down to 260, the case neck goes from .308 to .264. As you size the neck down, the brass that was somewhere around .011" to .013" thick at .308", gets squeezed down also and the case necks become much thicker. When you seat a bullet in this sized down case, the case neck is too thick with a bullet seated, and the case neck will now hit the chamber walls of the 260. To fix it, you have to neck turn the case necks to remove some thickness. Can you use 308 brass to form 260, yes, but you will have to neck turn the necks to make it work.

Win 7-08 brass has worked well to size down to 260 (plus gives you a little added case volume over Rem and Lapua cases). I have also used Lapua 243 Win brass to neck up 260. Either of these options will work without any more case prep.

I have some Lupua 260 brass I just thought I would use some 308 brass I had laying around just to see if it would work . I think I'll stick to 260 brass since Bruno's has it for .92/each.

The only thing I've successfully converted is 308 to 338. Wasn't too bad.

Yes, the Lapua 308 brass has thick necks already. So sizing the 308 Lapua to 260 Rem would result in very thick necks.

Avoid Bruno's. They use come on pricing and then charge outrageous shipping and handling fees. Notice that shipping and handling is not shown on the checkout screen. There is a reason.

For Lapua brass, try Powder Valley or EA Brown (Eabco) and then the usual suspects like Midway.

Agree!. Bullets.com and Third Generation Shooting Supply are other great sources.

Butch's reloading is fast and reasonable on Lapua brass.

I use Lapua 308 Palma for my 7mm-08 but I'm just on the borderline of having to turn necks. I know a few guys that have used the same brass for 260 and creed but all had to turn necks.
