If you have back issues then be careful with that tractor tire. That's a sure fire way to pull my back. Man, how did I get old.

Been hitting the elliptical everyday for at least 30 minutes plus some weights. Found a gym on post today that has a stair machine it kicked my butt after 30 min on the elliptical. Been flipping a huge tire I got from Billyhunt mixed in with some sledgehammer work and kettle bell work. Pretty good cardio actually full body workout. Yesterday I flipped the tire 100 yds down and 100 yds back it kicked my arse. Really not too bad on my back but I prob keep that to 2-3 times a week.

Those stair machines are awesome. I do stairs every time I'm at the gym and when I'm hiking in the mountains I notice how much it helps. I do another workout with a 10-12 lb medicine ball and a Bosu ball, and my gym has one of the medicine ball trampolines with a backboard above it which you also need. So you stand balancing on the hard flat surface of the Bosu ball, and then you throw the medicine ball at the trampoline and catch it, then squat down and as you come back up, throw the ball at the back board, then catch it and repeat. I love it because it works so many muscle groups and stabilizer muscles. It has really helped to strengthen my ankles. Its also great cardio when you do 3 sets of 15 with about 30 seconds of rest in between sets.

I'm also consistently doing 85-95 pull ups each time I go, and I just got back so my arms are dead right now.

If they have a tread climber, I'd be doing that instead of the stair master.

Man 30 min on the elliptical and then 15 min on the stair machine is kicking my butt. 15 min is about 60 or so floors been burning around 600 calories per workout in the AM. Yesterday I flipped the large tire 100 yds out and 100 yds back then carried got inside the smaller tire which is still big and pretty heavy and carried it 100yds and back. Then did a little kettle bell work. Don't know how much I've lost but my wife said she can tell I'm losing weight. I enjoy this stuff way more than running.

Thats awesome. Diet is a key factor to really shedding the pounds though, but you're probably aware of that as well.

Thats a good transition. Cutting out things slowly, then eating healthier, then cutting back portions of you're trying to lose.

I've tried diets and programs in the past and never was able to stick to them so this time I'm just trying to eat smart and less.

That's the best way. I don't diet myself, it's just called eating right.

I usually just read stuff on the forum and rarely log in. This thread is something I know about. I have been a certified trainer for more years than I wanna admit and diet is the biggest thing. No sugar, low carbs and less fat is the best. I know this for a fact if your joints hurt power walking is better than running! If you wanna talk bout workouts and diet I'll be glad to chat. I work out to hunt and ride my Indian motorcycle etc. And I can tell ya overtraning is almost as bad as no training. I can tell u 3 things to do for a total body workout. Truthfully.

OK I'll ask: What are those 3 things?

Power walking with weights, swinging a kettle bell and burpees with a push up in the middle

Thanks.
I'm not up on the lingo so had to look up burpee.
According to Wikipedia what you describe with the pushup
is a "bastardo". Sounds about right.

Buck furpees is the saying. They suck, but they're a good core workout for sure.
