Nice work Nito. I hope we have Centerfire at night here soon. I'm tired of making runoff thermal videos.

How would you rate the display of the Oled to the LCD?

Nice video! And good shooting. Never ceases to amaze me the will to survive those yotes have!

Question: there were a couple times when coyote hunting it appeared the video got "hung up" and paused for a few seconds. Was this a flaw in the video or a flaw in the scope? Meaning, did you see the hang up while live viewing through the scope? Could make a difference when hunting something like coyotes as seconds can count.....with hogs usually not, but coyotes don't give much window most of the time.

I'm guessing it was the auto-cal. I use semi-auto on a Pulsar when hunting. Auto-cal is fine for a monocular like the HD 38 or HD 50...

That 'glitch' or 'pause' in the screen is the unit calibrating. You have the option to make this manual, automatic, or semi automatic pending your hunting conditions / preference. Looks like he as this on automatic or semi automatic but you have the option for manual meaning you have to physically push a button for this operation.

One problem for the XD 75 is cost. At $6,000.00 and a 384 core, you are knocking on the door of much better 640 core scopes.

Pulsar has (3) three calibration modes

Manual
Semi-auto = the one I utilize
Auto

Some of my hunting is in 0 deg. F. conditions with sub-zero wind chills..that is where the OLED display is a better choice than the LCD.

I'm aware of the OLED working better in extreme cold, but since you've had a lot of time with the 75A, I was wondering how you thought the two compared picture wise.

The 75 has a slightly sharper/crisper hue.

My wife finally got sick of hearing me talk about Thermal and told me to just buy one and shut up. I decided on the Pulsar 50A and I've been pricing them on the internet. I went by the Big Town Gun Show today and USA Optics did me a very nice deal on one. It's sighted in and I'm about to bath in DEET and take it out for its first test drive.

I lug enough stuff around when I'm hunting, so no DVR for me, but there will need to be a quick mount in my future.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Congrats!

BTW, if you didn't get one yet. I highly recommend the EPS-3 Power supply, good for 9 hours or so.

Also, when you are not looking through the 50A, tap on the On button to turn the display off...great power saver. Tap it again for instant on.

And don't be afraid to get the dvr. It weighs almost nothing and will attach to your stock. With velcro straps mine easily switches between my bmag and my ar.

Or get one of www.ultimatenightvision.com custom dual video/external power cables for $49.00 and add an Anker USB battery from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0194WDVHI/ref=...A5YJJG9Y9GN2QJ3 I have seen them as low as $18.69 and as high as about $25.00. It will run your scope for about 20 hours, give or take.

I prefer the USB battery option because it allows you to use any USB battery. It charges from a phone charger or computer. I always carry a spare.

Either of these options will save you serious bucks over the long haul in batteries. Plus, you just turn the scope on and hunt all night without having to worry about batteries running down and having to change them in the dark. This always seems to happen at the most in appropriate time.

Yes....and no one carries too much to have to leave a recorder out. Recording hunts is fun, but more importantly they are a valuable learning tool to see not only what you did wrong, but also what you did right.

I mount all of mine on the buttstock with the remote switch readily available.

Can you point me to the cable you're talking about? The only one I see doesn't appear to accept USB input.

Oh Lawdy, I screwed on disun... Sorry mang. I forgot that we used a 12V battery on the Pulsar. The rest of the thermals I have setup can use a USB battery. Another good thing about that is you can use the USB battery to run your scope and charge your phone. Anyway, you can get the $49.00 cable and the 12 volt battery from Amazon or www.usledsupply.com: http://www.usledsupply.com/shop/12v-battery-pack-12v-6800mah-5v-9800mah.html

Very sorry about forgetting the Pulsar was different and getting you off track. frown
