Looks bigger in the first pic, I'd say he was 240#

man, pics like the first are so hard to judge because the hunter could be sitting straight legged back from the hog or kneeling right up against it and there is no way to tell...

Having said that, he looks fat and has good size. I would put this one between 250-300 but that is a WAG based on the two small pictures I saw.

240 Lol, he's over 400 for sure. He broke a strap that's rated for 500lb before I got him completely off the ground.

I said that based off the picture of him next to that barrel, initially I would have guessed around 325. Just cause he broke a 500lb strap doesn't mean he's even close to that big.
Many hog hunters way over estimate weights, but if you want a good idea, go get a very flexible measuring tape and measure girth around the heart, multiply by 10 and subtract 200. Of course this is based on " the average hog"

WOW. Corn hog for sure. I shot one about like that 24 years ago and on scales it was 385# before field dressed.
My WAG would be 385-410. Congrats. He'll make a good euro mount. up

Its a good pig, no doubt.

But hard to estimate the weight since we don't really have anything of known scale/size from which to compare.

In the first pic, you are clearly sitting behind the hog and the picture purposely taken at a low angle. This is a common photographic method meant to create what is known as 'forced perspective'.

The result is that object in the first focal plane appears either closer or larger than it actually is. Completely unnecessary...since the pig is large on its on merits.

If you can tell us if the feeder has a 30 gallon or 55 gallon barrel (and who manufactures it) then maybe we can make an educated guess.

As already suggested...just carry a cloth tape with you and take Heart Girth measurements.

Its a great hog, glad you got him. That should be enough?

Judging by pic next to feeder, nowhere near "over 400 for sure". I kinda doubt he breaks 300, but he might be right there. Very, very few wild hogs break 400. Hell, hardly any break 300. I shot a 296# that would have won the Los Cazadores "heaviest hog" category a few years back, but I didn't enter it.

He's north of 300 lbs for sure. If money was riding on it I'd guess 350ish. Agree w/Cameron that 400lb hogs are few and far between.

Based on a similar sized one I shot years ago I am guessing right around 300-350. There are so few verified weight "feral" hogs above 325lbs. The heavier ones I have seen looked more domestic based on the shape of the skull and ears.

Really nice hog!

Just for comparison, I knifed a hog which was 305, long lean and not fat. He laid on the tailgate in the bed of a Toyota tundra sized pickup with his butt (not legs stretched out) on one end of the tailgate and his head was off the other side of the tailgate. This hog here has more thickness for sure. but he is barely stretched out on straps over tailgate of the truck. So he doesn't have the length of the 305 I stabbed. However, he prob makes up for it in thickness, as he is a fat mofo, so I still stand by 250-300, maybe a tad over 300, but I don't think much. Hogs are misleadingly lighter than they appear, its their way of presenting ground shrinkage...

That's a big hog no doubt. I would guess low 300 to mid 300 tops. Congrats on a big hog. Kill them all! cheers

There are a lot of big hogs posted on here, so if you say 400 the only way you will get anyone to agree is by proving it with a pic of the hog hanging on the scale. up

Good one to take out regardless of weight Chris.

Heck of a big hog. I want to know what you were feeding him as he could not have been fatter in a feedlot. I am going to guess 350 and perhaps a little more with guts intact.
Adios,
Gary
