Tell Sierra, that's a bunch of BS. If it was a .311 in a .308 you could have a bad bang if you were pushing your loads.

I emailed them with the pictures. It is unsettling that this happened but have never had any issues with Sierra bullets before. If it was the other way around I might have not caught it as long as it seated normally. Dan your right bad bang for sure.

Glad I do. What is the box in the background say? Is it a coincidence that it has .311 and that bullet measures .311?

Did just that one bullet measure .311"? What did the rest measure?

Judd, a .308 bullet found its' way in a box of .311 bullets. How bad is it if a bullet rattles down a barrel?

The box shows .311" 150g spitzers. The calipers show .311". Am I missing something?

Ah! Now I see it! Didn't show up on my phone, but does on the laptop. Yeah, that's a problem! Aplogies all for my confusion.

Judd, a .308 bullet found its' way in a box of .311 bullets. How bad is it if a bullet rattles down a barrel? I'm trying to understand but didn't ask the right questions evidently. If I gather the info from the box, it's a .303 cal with a .311 pressure ring.... But that doesn't make sense to me because normally the caliber is the pressure ring size. So I'll assume a .303 is actually a .311 and if that is the case the lands well be .007 or .008 tighter.... Which puts it around .303 (which might be where that comes from?). Saying all of that... Shooting a.308 down it while not ideal it would not hurt it or rattle . But none the less needs addressed how a 308 got in a 303 box. What was the weight difference between them and was there anymore? (All this is based upon my knowledge of 6.5 and 6's...like example 6 = .243 and most lands are either .236 or .237)

I might have confused the issue with the .311 pic. Should have just posted the .308. I did not check weight of the .308.

Update, sent the box and bullet back to Sierra as requested. They called me back on Monday apologize again for the bullet mix up. They sent me a brand new box of .311 free of charge. Got it in the mail today.
