Which of these two protein feeders do you recommend? The 1,000# is $700 and the 1,250# is $900. Also, do you think my feed pen is large enough to hold the protein and corn feeder? I'm going off memory, but I think I used 13 panels.

If the protein 4 way on the 1000# is removable so that a corn thrower could be added during the season that would be my choice. Curious to see other's thoughts.

Looks like one is a stand and fill and the other you'll need a ladder. Since you already have a s&f corn thrower in that pen I'd go with the shorter one. 13 panels is certainly big enough.

I believe the stand and fill 1250 is worth it. Those Protein Evos are good feeders, but they are tall. Easier to toss protein in the 1250.

They also make the 1250 with skids. If cattle or aoudad are a risk, you might take a look at the skids model.

Cattle are a risk if they get in the pen - does that count?

I have extra panels, so what I plan on doing is wiring on a 2nd panel on top of the first, this one slightly raised off the ground. This will make the overall height of the panel 36-38" tall.

I like this one too, but it's just shy of $1k.

If you plan to KEEP feed in it, free choice is the way to go and that being said, the bigger-the better. On the other hand, if you are on a budget and have to make your feed last, consider a timed free choice feeder. Just remember, the extra hundred or two you spend on a feeder is nothing compared to the thousands of dollars worth of feed you will feed with it. Go big and save the gas money. Go timed free choice and feed free choice during the hours you want them to eat. All Seasons will be rolling out our device on their web pages any day. Call Zach at All Seasons Feeders and tell him Mike sent you.

I have several of the pro eve 1,000lb feeders. They work great, however Atascosa Wildlife Supply would be my first choice.
