Trying to figure what leupold scope if any has the bdc recital. I have a Nikon prostaff on one of my rifles. I like it but wanting some better glass for my new rifle. Was thinking either a Leupold or Burris with the bdc. I thought the fullfield e1 had it and it doesn't.

VX3 and VX2 should have B&C reticle on select models.

Some vortex have bdc as well

Why a BDC?

It's a peference thing.

You can get a Burris FFII with BDC. I have two of them. Leupold has several options for VX3 scopes, and I prefer the Varmint Hunter BDC reticle rather than the Boone and Crockett version. I also have a 6-18 VX2 with BDC. I think it's called LRDV or something similar.

BDC has a use, though the turret twister guys downplay their use. If a fellow is going to shoot out past 400 yards or so, probably the turret twister guys are right, but most hunters won't shoot at game at that range anyway.

I should mention that my favorite hunting rifle has a turreted scope.

I have a Burris with a BDC and it works pretty well, it is on my go to deer gun. Yes i have other scopes that I dial but I have never had a shot over 300 yards on a deer so fortunately my BDC is good on 200 and 300 yards.

Everyone needs to know how to hold elevation. My problem with BDC is that I've seldom seen them be perfect for elevation correction, and they tend to be weak for correcting wind.

My experience with BDC scopes hasn't been bad once you get the idea of precision shooting out of your head. You will never be able to duplicate what a scope with adjustable turrets will be able to do. That being said, if you stay realistic with the BDC it will serve you well. On the rifles that I've had using a BDC scope, it's always been very close to center of the target out to 300 yards. Beyond 300 is where things really start to show the negative side of BDC. I think they have there place, my wife has the P223 BDC on her AR and loves it, as it is very quick to get a shot on target <300 yards. I think they make great scopes for deer hunting at realistic distances with practice.

Well, a case can be made that BDC doesn't offer any real benefit to an experienced shooter. Assuming a rifle MV of about 3000 fps, and sighted in at 200 yards, bullet drop is going to be close to 7 inches down at 300 and 20 inches down at 400. For deer hunting, holdover is pretty simple out to 300. Like BigPig says, things get a little trickier around 400 yards, and that's here BDC comes in handy, and has done so for me. Only thing is that you need to know distances, but you'll need that with BDC and turrets.

Turrets give a fellow precision, or at least potentially, which BDC won't do. Still, I have on occasion gotten good use from BDC, and most cases it was around 400 yards. If you don't have a rangefinder, get one, even if it maxes out at 400 yards (like the Nikon 600 I still have).
