I think they sell a package deal to get your tin foil hat size measured at the same time.

Very cryptic, Buzzsaw.

I think what he's referring to is a new kind of "smart gun" which is activated with a little RFID tag in a ring on your firing hand. If you don't have the ring, you can't fire the weapon, because it's not close enough to the gun to be detected.

Anyway, it's not going to happen. They aren't reliable or cost-effective enough yet to make anyone think about adopting them. Sure, Obama made it a point to say he was going to push for smart guns, but we aren't going to see it soon. And the first time one malfunctions and gets someone killed (whether it's an officer, or Mr. Hillbilly down the street), it's going to blow up in their face.

I remember Colt working on these in the 90s for police because a surprising number of police are actually shot with their own gun.

Will never happen. You think a thug's gonna' rub a ittle Vaseline on your finger and gently remove the ring? No, he's gonna' take the whole finger/hand/arm and figure it out later. There's a reason ATM's don't have retina or finger print scan, and it's not because the technology's too expensive.
