A buddy I shoot clays with just bought a Llewellin. I've hunted around a couple of setters but not this particular type of setter.
Any experience with these dogs?

I hunted with a guy who had a couple of them. They were as good as any dogs on the ground every time I hunted with him.

Bill forgot to mention they were the only dogs on the ground the days Bill hunted with them.

If you're on face book there is a Llewellyn owners group, check in there for some bias leaning the other way
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

My dad has one she is a good dog. They are simply just an English setter, unless you ask a Llewellyn guy.. We bred my dads dog to another setter and they were papered as English setters they were great pups and good hunters. Here is a picture of one of the pups.

I have a 5 year old Llewellin from Kings in Arkansas. He is a joy to hunt with. I'll have to admit that I don't get to hunt him as often as I would like, but he was very easily trainable, with a lot of natural instinct. The only thing that ever slows him down in the field is heat. No amount of cactus, or sand burrs, etc. will stop him. Great pet, and hunter!

She was great company and provided a nice shoe shine while the Brit was finding birds. Great companion dog that hunted and pointed with style that would make you proud ....... once in a blue moon. Mine did not do well in the heat either. Loved to lay in the cement pond that I put in the yard.

Llewellin line goes back so far, that the true blood is probably pretty thin, like horse's, "I have a DOC BAR filly", when you look at the papers, Doc Bar was 6 generations back. does not make the horse any more desirable than any other
hold on Newt, we got a runaway
