why are the lot sizes on homes waaay out in the bush, still only 1 or 5 acres?
you would figure a nice big cabin way out would come with 50 or more acres
I guess there isn't much private land in Alaska like there is in Texas?

The private land is somewhat scarce and been gobbled up long ago. Most of those 5 acre properties back right up to national forest or other government "public" land so most folks really don't see the need to try to buy more than that.

There is a great amount of public land here in Alaska , followed by public is that which is held by native corporations then there is the small amount of private land held in relation to the size of the state. 1-5 acres on good water would make a great fishing camp and a great base camp to great hunting which would be less than 1hr away
