Building a new blind. Which should I go with. I hear slides can freeze up and not open but hangers have more movement.


Thoughts?

I like windows that fold up, simply because they allow any portion of the window opening to be used for shooting... without having to move both sides of the window to the other end of the track. I build mine to fold out, so they make a sun/rain shade. It doesn't seem to bother the deer or pigs.

I made mine to fold out. Use piano hinge bolt to plexiglass, then used pipe insulation 3/4" that I put on the plywood skin that served like a seal around the sides and bottom, it also made a nice gun rest. I used a chalk box string to pull up the window. Put a piece of rubber flashing over the top edge to create a drip.

I made mine fold in so I can sit in the blind with the windows shut and heat on and not be noisy. Plus when I open it it doesn't put off a glare. Opening in can be tough in a small blind - if you want them all to open they can't be too big

I prefer sliding Windows, so that I can vary the size of the opening. I have one fancy blind with Windows that fold inside, and the Windows have to be totally open or totally closed. That has confirmed, for me, that Windows that can be opened partially (sliders) are the best option.

I like the sliders only way to go.

I prefer inward swing (down.) Our sliders in the years past become full of micro-scratches making them very difficult to see through.

I use a design similar to this, but they swing down all the way. I also use the tinted plexiglass.

I put sliders in mine. Only way to go if ya really want it sealed up.

Located in Iowa, if freezing were a problem with sliders, I've never seen it. We regularly hunt sub zero temps. Deer can be directly under the stand and not hear the windows being slid open, they're that quiet.

Sliders hands down.....way better seal against bees, wasps, etc.

Mine are 24"w X 12" tall and fold up, inside the blind. They have a short string loop hanging from the bottom that I can hook over a nail without looking. Totally silent.
