Been looking at a lot of leases in Kent and stonewall county (aspermount) (jayton). Most of them have the salt fork of the brazos river on them. Any luck with that fork? And how is the hog population there? Looking to get a good summer night hunt if the population is plenty.

There are deer in the area but not in numbers like you will see in a lot of the state. There are plenty of hogs and varmints for sure. Quail numbers were great this last year with all the rain. I hunt Stonewall county but travel through Kent to get there.

Mule deer there as well. Plenty of hogs and turkey. My neighbor hunts SE of Aspermont and shoots a nice deer every year.

A lot lower mule deer populations there than further north, but there are a some. I've only seen one on my place. I travel a lot back and forth a lot at night and see 99% whitetails along hwy 380.

Thank you very much for the info. I travel a least once a month in the area and typically stop by all the brazos river and its forks to kinda see any movement track wise to determine where I want to lease land. So far the salt fork seems to be the most populated. Thanks agian guys!

I'm in Rule and the north fork of the Brazos runs 200yards from our lease. We've killed great deer. If left alone till 7yo they will be 150s and up. We've killed lots of culls in the 120s. We have lots of quail and tons and tons of doves. Not enough hogs in my opinion. When we do kill em they are huge though. Decent turkey hunting as well.

We hunt the salt fork north of Jayton. We have about 65% whitetail and 35% Mulie.

Plenty of hogs. Lots of dove and quail. Good many predators.

If not overhunted, the area produces very nice deer.

I hunt on the Stonewall/Kent county line due west of the Double Mountains and love it out there. For whatever reason the mulies in that area tend to stay on the west side of 70 which is about a mile from us. Whitetail are great. Obviously they aren't as plentiful as hill country deer but I have pics of 13 deer at one time inside an 8 panel pen. Last year we killed a 146" 8 and a 154" 11. Hogs are around but not overrun with them. Most of our feeders are penned due to cattle on the property as well. If you're a bird hunter, dove and quail were outstanding this year also.

I hunt Stonewall County on the Salt Fork on 380 and have never seen a Mulie. Funny how they seem to run in pockets.

I did have a rancher at the cafe in Aspermont tell me about a heard of elk that are expanding after getting loose in the fires of 2011. That would be interesting to see at your feeder at first light!

Whitetail are not plentiful, but we do some some good deer. We have duck and Sandhill Cranes in good numbers. Quail and turkey numbers exploded thisyear. Dove hunting is insanely good and hogs are very plentiful. I shot 13 pigs in one weekend myself.

I like the area a lot, but would like to see a few more deer.

Great area. Big bodied, big antlered deer. Lots of antler growing minerals in that "gyp" water. Hunted west of Jayton for years. From '92-'98. Not many deer back then. Lots more these days.
