saw on the news tonight that 3 rhinos are killed every day for their horns, that bring $150,000.00, to bad there is not a bounty on poachers, even the ones around here.

Colt, My wife and I went to Tanzania a few years ago. They are extremely serious about suppressing poaching. Here is a check point entering into Serengeti National Park. The park rangers were about to go out on patrol. Note the full auto AK. Their rules of engagement are easy to understand and apply in the field. Everyone checks in with the rangers at the check point. If they see a vehicle that did not check in with them, they open fire on sight. Apparently, the poachers have the same ROE and open fire on the rangers on sight. The areas with rhinos and elephants have armed patrols 24/7.

They can get a little overzealous sometimes. A well-known PH and his son were recently killed standing by their vehicle by a "green" anti-poaching patrol in Zimbabwe. It's not a perfect world; life is messy, and it's a helluva lot more messy in Africa.
